Ghalia Edrees is a promising Jeddah-based furniture designer known for her signature contemporary Islamic style. She is also the founder of ALGHALIA INTERIORS – an interior design firm specialized in retail, hospitality and residential projects – www.alghalia-ides.com. Drawing inspiration from her Saudi Arabian heritage, Ghalia has always nurtured a passion for Zeitgeist design.
This led her to skilfully engrave her dynamic and distinctive aesthetic by melding sleek and clean shapes with geometric and traditional Islamic forms. Ghalia cleverly infuses a contemporary interpretation of Islamic design in all her creations.Pioneering Islamic contemporary design, ALGHALIA INTERIORS have worked on a number of high profile projects, including a turnkey retail concept for the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, as well as renowned restaurants and luxury boutiques across Saudi Arabia.
ALGHALIA INTERIORS have recently been selected to show some of their latest designs at Tent London – the East London hub of the annual London Design Festival, renowned for showcasing the best products from established independents and undiscovered talents.
ALGHALIA INTERIORS will be presenting a range of high-end products and furniture flirting with the current ethnic and geometric trends.
Geomatrix table – Matrix of geometric forms, the Geomatrix table blends conventional furniture legs and sleek forms in unexpected ways. Bold contrast between contemporary and Islamic design, this piece will stand out as a desk, meeting or coffee table. An interesting point to note here is that, some of the greatest interior designers from Edinburgh too, have taken an increasing liking to these geometric designs. It seems only a matter if time, before such patterns and designs become a rage.
Geomatrix light – Influenced by origami, the Geomatrix wall light incorporates the notorious Islamic forms in a playful manner. This minimalist piece will subtly defuse the light and cast geometric shadows on the wall bringing an intriguing and elegant feel to
Sinan chair – Named after illustrious architect Mimar Sinan, the Sinan chair is a tribute to the Ottoman architecture, drawing inspiration from classic features such as domes and arches. Its refined frame and challenging structure make this chair a
cutting-edge piece for unique interiors.

Bloometric table – The Bloometric table features engraved floral patterns in a classic Islamic and geometric style.
Hence its name derived from the words “bloom” and “geometric”. Playing with the transparency
and the opacity of the glass, this coffee table will add a fresh and luminous touch to the living room.
